Progress

I've accomplished a lot today. I finished capturing my video of my action plan and I'm basically done with mt presentation PowerPoint. I also finished editing my lit analysis. I'm nervous about presenting because my project'll be half complete. I'd rather present infront of a VERY small group or in front of a small group of teachers

I'm Sorry I missed so much

Okay, I've missed a lot since we've last spoken..... I went to learn some more. The third day of me learning Aikido, I had a one-on-one lesson because no one showed up for class that day. I was caught up on the basics, such as Tai Sabaki (body movement), more Robuse, Hiji Kudaki (Elbow Smash), and Yuki Chigai (Under Arm Twist). The next class I had was more and more review on our yellow belt technuiques, which helped me a lot. The next class, we did a tai sabaki drill where I leared a lunge punch and my zen stance was corrected (I still have to work on that) we also learned Tenbin Nage (Yoke Throw). the next class after that was more review, which I appreciated, and I learned Kote Gaeshi (Wrist Turnover). So far, I've learned a lot and I'm very proud of that

Second Official Day

I was happy to go for the second day. I had my gi washed and everything. (If you don't know what a gi is, I suggest you look on the side of my blog labeled "key terms") More Ukemi was learned (you must perform it every class), but I learned it from a standing position this time, it was a lot harder. We also learned a kata (pre-arranged techniques) from Suwari Waza. (seated position techniques) After that was more Robuse where he learned a couple more techniques from a same-side wrist grab. Timing is the key in this particular art.

First Day of...

Okay, well I had my first day of training and I enjoyed myself there. the instrutors of the dojo were very nice and they broke stuff down. I learned how to escape a rear choke as well as counter a hook punch by using a technique called robuse. (in Aikido a hook punch is simulated by a yokomen uchi strike) I also learned Ukemi, or safe falling, which I am pretty good at. Ukemi is basically when you roll on the ground. I learned the roll from a crouching position and how to roll on your back. You place yourself in a ball while rolling, and don’t unroll. You also have to keep a bend in your shoulders and roll on your back in a curve. Unfortunately I missed Wednesday because of "circumstances" (angry face) but i do plan on going back on Monday again, and learning some more.

This Is A Little Late.... but We Always Say Better Late Than Never

So seeing as I've officially chosen Aikido as my topic, I have to choose a style and then finally a school to learn it. So last week I visited an Aikikai style school and I really enjoyed it. The place was very nice, it had a really nice, friendly feeling to it. The instructor broke everything down, and the people seemed to learn very quickly. The things that withheld me from choosing this place was the fact that everyone had different skill levels. I didn't really mind, but I didn't want to just get started and hold people back, since they had beginners with non-beginners. Another reason why I didn't do it was because I could get hurt tangling with people who know what they're doing and I really don't.
The next dojo I observed was a Yoseikan group and I really enjoyed that also because it was really big and had a place to work out. The classes were still small though, which surprised me. The class was a fresh beginner class so I could come in and not miss much. So i decided to pick this particular dojo.
I called the head instructor and he said that I can start on Monday, which I will do so happily, but know I have to move my schedule around, but that won't be a problem
